Baby hats

It's that time of year again, when my school collects baby items as a service project. All items will be donated to those in need. I made a few baby hats....8 in all. I already took a few of them to school. Here are 2 of my hats...

They are so much fun to make! It's great to know they will get a good home and keep some little heads warm this winter. You can find the pattern here.

A little Christmas....

Hello! It's hard to believe we're almost into the month of December...I like to do a little decorating for Christmas the days following Thanksgiving. This is the first time in a few years, I am not working retail part time for the holiday season. I have to say, I don't miss it! I love being home by the fire crocheting instead!

Crocheting snowflakes is one of my favorite things...they are quick and easy to bring on the road, so I work them year round.  I've added a few to my mantel decor this year.

I also made these small red doilies to go along with the red theme. They are small, only about four inches across. They would make great coasters, too! (And since they are red, I can use them in February for Valentine's Day. ; )

These snowflakes are hanging on my Christmas tree. I don't have a "theme" for our Christmas tree. It's just a collection of ornaments we've collected over the years...along with a few special vintage ornaments I pick up here and there. I absolutely adore the vintage Shiny Brite glass ornaments. I try to hang them toward the top of our tree so our dog won't knock them off with her tail!!
I also love ornaments in glass containers!!
Thanks for checking in and have a great day!

A Fall Doily, Take 2!

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Here is another version of the doily I wrote about here. I made it off white and brown baker's thread for fall.  Sometimes using a different thread makes the pattern  look different.
The pineapple pattern is more visible in one color thread vs. a shaded thread. (I also left off the picots on the last round of the yellow version.)
Thanks for checking in and have a great day!

Gray and White

Here's my latest doily...made in gray and white. It's a quick and easy pattern and lends itself to using more than one color. You can find the chart here.

I couldn't resist taking a picture of a few of my doilies...love the way they all look together!

Hope you had a good weekend! Thanks for checking in!

A little touch of fall....

These 2 skeins of thread were the inspiration for this fall doily.

The combination of off white and brown baker's thread is perfect for November.
I loved the way the Halloween doilies I made looked on my mantel...now I can  replace them with this little gem...and a little fall decor.
This is a quick and easy pattern.
You can find it here.

Happy November!

Perfect Blend Gift Card Holder

It's always nice to have a unique way to give someone a gift card, isn't it??? I made this little gift card envelope for giving a coffee gift card...yum...I am enjoying a nice cup of pumpkin spice coffee as I write this!

I used the Perfect Blend stamp set from Stampin Up! There are so many cute ideas out there for this set! I cut the envelope at 4"  on my Cricut using the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge.
Here is the back of the envelope. I didn't take the time to make a cute closure, but  you sure could! I just added baker's twine, wrapped around and tied on the back. Simple. Thanks for checking in and have a pumpkin spice coffee kind of day!

Pumpkin Card

Hello! It's been a while since I've posted a card idea...I still love to do papercrafting....it just seems crocheting has been my creative obsession lately! This weekend I had some time to catch up on a few scrapbook pages, and since I had my supplies out, I made a card or two.  Here is a Halloween card I made using the Holiday Cakes Cricut cartridge.

I cut the pumpkins at 2". The circle is from Accent Essentials and cut at 3 3/4". I embossed it with a Cuttle bug folder. The Halloween ticket stamp is from the dollar spot at Michael's. Thanks for checking in and have a great day!

Halloween Doily #2

Hello again! Here's the second of my Halloween doilies...
I'm sure you've seen other versions of this pretty doily...I think it's a very popular pattern. You can find it here.

On a different note...I have to share my great find yesterday! I get most of my crochet thread at thrift stores...it's amazing how there are always a few skeins to choose from. While I didn't find any thread yesterday, I did get this great set of hooks for $1.50! The 'H' hook is missing, but there was an extra 'J' hook in the bag, along with the set.
Crochet happiness. ; )
Have a great weekend and thanks for checking in!

My Halloween Collection Part 1

Hello! Needless to say, my crochet time has dwindled since school started again a few weeks ago. I always have ideas of things I want to make though, don't you? It won't be long until Halloween...so I thought I'd make a few Halloween themed doilies for my mantel. I have some ceramic haunted houses I put out each year and a black and orange doily will go perfectly with them. Here is doily #1:

You probably recognize this pattern...I've made it several times in different colors. I love it..it's quick, easy, and great for using more than one color. It's called Dainty Shells.  This is the same pattern I used for my Christmas doily a few weeks ago, and this pink, green, and white beauty.

Stay tuned for #2...coming soon!

A Little Crochet on the Edge....

I added a little crochet goodness to one of my bath towels.
My bathroom walls are yellow, so I decided to update it with some gray accents. I used the same Cloud Artiste thread I used in the doily I made a few weeks ago.

You can find the chart for this crochet edging here.  It is very quick and easy....
imagine the possibilities!
Thanks for checking in and have a great day!

My cape is complete!

I am so excited to share this completed cape with you today! I have not ventured into crochet clothing a whole lot...but am very pleased with the way this turned out.

I was inspired by this version on Betsy Makes.  You can also read about making here, on ByHaafner. It was so helpful to read those 2 blog posts before I started! I chose a dark purple/plum colored yarn. (I used I Love This Yarn from Hobby Lobby and a size I hook.) I started with a chain of 96 and then followed this chart.  I decided to do the collar in single crochet, back loop only. It measures 6" in width; I made it long enough to fit around the original chain of 96 at the top of the cape.

I have to say, this was such an easy project! And it only took one skein of yarn!  I can see myself wearing this on the cool Fall days ahead. This is a great item to wear outside in MN...or even inside on cold winter's day.  I'm thinking about making another one...I love the white version on ByHaafner! I can see where a slightly thinner yarn would also be nice...this one is quite thick.  But, like I said, I'm totally pleased the results! Thanks for checking in and have a great day!

A little Christmas in July...

Ahh...summer....I love the extra time I have to crochet a bit each day.
Until August at least.
I made this Christmas doily in size 10 thread.
I love Artiste Egyptian cotton thread from Hobby Lobby. If it's on sale I buy a skein. Or two.
This pattern, "Dainty Shells," lends itself well to using 3 colors and is quick and easy to make.
Thanks for checking in and have a great day!
