March Doilies

March is right around the corner, so why not decorate
with a few green doilies??? That's my philosophy anyway!!

This is the same pattern, done with a solid color and then with
a solid center and varigated border.

You can find the chart here.

I hope you enjoy making this little gem...
think of all the colorful possibilities!!

Spring

It is so nice to finally have spring weather! I celebrated by making 2 pretty doilies!
Doesn't everyone? ; )
This is the same pattern I used for the blue and gold doilies
I made for my son's graduation; and the rose doily I
made for my classroom.
I love this pattern.
There are also several pretty versions on pinterest.

Thanks for checking in and have a great day!

A new doily!

Hello! I made this pretty doily this weekend!
So thankful for the chance to do a little crocheting. ; )
I love the solid look of this doily.
I think it would make a great carpet, too, if it was made
with a bigger hook and thick cotton yarn.
You can find the pattern here.
Thanks for checking in and happy crocheting!!

I finished this pretty doily today...
I love the pattern.
It's very easy.
I used this chart.
This is the same pattern I used for the the blue and yellow doilies...
only then I made the small version.

I used Dawn Rose Artiste thread from Hobby Lobby.
Thanks for checking in and have a great day!
Hope you can crochet today! = )

Lacy Lantern

Hello! Have you seen these pretty crocheted lanterns?
I think the light shining through the crochet pattern is gorgeous!
I just had to try making one! They are perfect for a little LED tea light.

Quite a few of the lanterns I saw were made out of individual
motif's. I wanted something a little more simple...
...after a little research,
I saw this one. It uses 2 doilies.

I started with a doily I already had.

Then, made another one to match.

I stitched them together along the sides (right sides facing out), connecting
them mainly at the top of the
scallops. I wanted the sides to have a large enough opening to slide in the tea light.

I mixed glue and water (about equal parts, but it really isn't too fussy!)
and soaked the doilies in it.

I slid the ballon in the center, and blew it up, leaving the
knot on the outside. I used a 12 inch balloon.

I hung it up to dry...waiting for it to try was the hardest part!!!
When it was dry, I popped the balloon
and added a LED tea light.
Oh my gosh, I just love it!!!!
Thanks for checking in and have a great day!

Candy Corn Inspiration

I made this doily in subtle tones of yellow, orange, and off white...
so it would look like candy corn.
It will look so pretty as a fall decoration.
You can find the chart here.
Thanks for checking in and enjoy a little crocheting today!! ; )

Red and white...

Here's my latest little addition to my red and white decor.

I actually made the center quite awhile ago...
just decided to finish it in red this week.
You can find the chart here. It really is quite easy and quick...my favorite kind of project!
Happy crocheting!

Ruby Slippers Doily = )

I started this red doily the other night, while I watched The Wizard of Oz...I don't know about you, but I never get tired of that movie! Thanks to Dorothy and her ruby slippers, I got this much finished:
I had time over the weekend to finish it...I think it's lovely! It's a nice accent to the red and white I'm trying to incorporate into my living room.

Doilies  with shells are easy to make and go rather quickly...that's what I like about this pattern.
You can find the chart here.
Thanks for checking in and have a great day!

Doily Blanket

I've wanted to make a large, doily throw/blanket for a while...
I tried several different doily patterns before finding
this one....
I was looking for a doily that had at least 35-40 rounds to it.
The first pattern I tried had 30, which was too small (that size would make a good baby
blanket, though.)
This one is large enough to cozy up on the couch with a good book.

Thanks for checking in and have a great day!

I love it!

I made one to celebrate the 4th of July.

Yellow and Blue Doily Update...

Hello! It's been a while since I've posted on this little blog...lots going on this past month. But, school is out, summer is almost here (still have to finish packing up a few things in my classroom), and I'm looking forward to more crochet time and hitting the bike trails.

Almost a year ago, I post about a few blue and yellow doilies I was making; I had a 'vision' of how I wanted to use them at my son's graduation party. Well, we had his graduation party this past weekend, so I thought I'd give an update those blue and yellow beauties.

I made six flower pots...took a 6 inch terra cotta flower pot, painted it white, adhered pictures with Mod Podge, and added a dowel with a title. I had a theme for each one: graduation, speech, etc. that related to activities my son did during high school. They turned out really neat.
I wanted to take more pictures of them on the tables, but you know how that goes. You get everything set up and ready, but there is always one more detail to take care of and before you know it, people are coming and the day is off and running!

Here's a photo of a little corner of my yard. I put citronella candles in mason jars...more for atmosphere than bugs, really! I thought the little candles looked pretty lit around the yard.

I used a vintage suitcase for cards...a Pinterest idea that's been around for a while. This picture was taken on my kitchen table after the event, so the lighting is bad...sorry! The suitcase and doilies gave a little vintage look to the party. ; )

The day was fun...it's always great to celebrate your kids, isn't it???

I hope to be back with more soon...in the meantime, thanks for checking in!

Doily Inspiration...

Isn't this pretty? I'd love to say I made it, but I didn't. I was the
lucky one to find it for only .50 at the thrift store.
It's done beautifully, in fine thread and even stitches.
I love it.
I'm going to treasure it.
I'm glad it has found a good home.

You can find the chart for this doily here.
Have a great day and thanks for checking in!

Another  doily done with size 30 thread. I can't believe how
much I like using this finer thread! The doilies seem so much
softer. I dug through my stash to see what other size 30 treasures
were hidden there...I found a bright blue thread that I'm
working with now.
You can find the chart for this doily here.
Have a great day!
